Claude VPS Solo: what €99 buys you, and why not €199

There was a gap between shared hosting and a server built for agencies. Claude VPS Solo fills it: your own server for 1 to 10 sites, with Claude or Codex as administrator, for €99 per month.

Launch my new project on this domain: create the account, sort out DNS and
the certificate, and deploy the repository to the webroot.

On a Claude Server this is an ordinary request. Not changing one website, but having the server itself do what you would otherwise click through in three panels and a terminal. Until recently we had two plans for that: €199 per month for agencies and €399 for your own hardware. Between and below those there was nothing, while the biggest group searching for it sits exactly there. Since the end of September there is a third: Claude VPS Solo, €99 per month.

What is in Solo

Your own cloud VPS, one customer per VPS, with:

  • 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe
  • DirectAdmin and LiteSpeed
  • Claude Code or Codex with administrator rights on the server
  • Updates, security and monitoring by us
  • Daily backups to a separate storage box
  • Room for your own sites, 1 to 10

No setup fees, prices excluding VAT, and on annual payment you pay twelve months for the price of ten. The servers are in Amsterdam, Groningen, Nuremberg or Falkenstein, so always in the EU.

Why a step in between was needed

The jump from our largest web hosting plan (€59, twenty websites, isolated inside your own account) to a server of €199 was too big. Not for agencies; they have ten to fifty client sites and then €199 is easy to justify. But the people who find us searching for "claude server" are mostly solo developers and small studios with a handful of their own projects. They do not have fifty sites. They want one thing: a machine where the assistant is allowed not just inside a website, but inside the server itself.

That is exactly what Solo does. The same setup as the bigger servers, cut smaller, without the headroom you would not use. The technology underneath is identical; what you pay follows the capacity and the number of sites, not a different version of the product.

How Solo and Multi differ

Hosting Complete Claude VPS Solo Claude VPS Multi
Price per month €59 €99 €199
Websites 20 1 to 10 10 to 50
Whose sites your own your own your clients'
Rights your own account, isolated administrator on the server administrator on the server
Capacity 8 GB, 4 cores, 50 GB 8 GB, 4 vCPU, 80 GB NVMe 16 GB, 8 vCPU, 160 GB NVMe

The difference between the first column and the rest is not capacity but reach. On web hosting the assistant works as your user, in your own environment, within the limits of your plan. Server settings, other accounts and root are out of reach, and that is the point: you cannot break anything that is not yours. See Isolated account or admin rights for what that means task by task.

On a Claude Server the assistant works as the administrator. It can create accounts, edit DNS zones, set up mailboxes and change PHP limits. That is the difference between "change my website" and "add a new website".

So Solo does not come at the expense of Hosting Complete. They are not two rungs of the same ladder. Twenty websites on shared hosting is fine if all you need is sites; Solo is for anyone who wants to address the server underneath.

What it is not

A bare VPS on which you install Claude Code yourself. You can get that cheaper anywhere, and if that is your plan, this is not your product. What you buy here is the furnished side: DirectAdmin already in place, an assistant that knows how the server is put together, backups already running, and updates and monitoring that do not depend on your attention. That is where the work sits, and that is where the price difference sits.

Also not: a server you can no longer touch yourself. The panel and SSH stay yours. The assistant is an extra pair of hands.

Common mistakes when choosing

Taking a server because the assistant "may do more", while your work sits inside one website. If your tasks all stay within one site (pages, themes, plugins, updates), web hosting does that just as well, often on a €15 plan.

Taking Solo for client sites. You may, but Multi exists for a reason: ten to fifty sites belonging to other people need more memory and more disk, and you notice that squeeze only when things get busy. You can always grow; we move you to Multi without you having to do anything.

Calculating without your own subscription. You take out Claude or Codex yourself, with Anthropic or OpenAI. That is separate from the hosting and comes on top. We charge nothing extra over it.

Putting off the migration because it looks like a lot of work. We migrate your existing sites, mail and DNS included. In practice you are the one who answers a few questions and then gets a test link.

For the specs and the order buttons see Claude Server, or compare with the web hosting plans first if you are not sure you need the server at all.
