New: web hosting with your own Claude Remote Control

Claude Remote Control is now part of our web hosting. A hosting plan with your own always-on Claude Code session that you open from your phone. What you get, how we built it and why it comes with Hosting Complete.

Until now, a Claude Code session that is always ready for you was something for people with their own server. You needed a machine that stays on day and night, someone to set the session up as a service, and someone to get it back on its feet when it falls over. That is a lot to ask if you simply have a website.

From now on it comes with a web hosting plan. Order Hosting Complete and your hosting includes your own Claude Remote Control service: a Claude Code session inside your own account that is always on, and that you open from the Claude app on your phone, on your tablet or in a browser. As far as we know, we are the first host where this is simply a switch in your control panel.

What you get

For each website you flip a switch in Invoker Link. A minute later a session named after your website shows up in your Claude app, for example "jansenbakery.com · Invoker". That session stays. Tomorrow, next week, after your phone died and after we updated the server.

You type what you want, in plain language. "Were backups made last night?" "Change the opening hours." "Why has the contact form email stopped arriving?" The assistant sits right next to your website, your database, your email and your backups, and it knows our platform. Questions are answered straight away. If it wants to change something, you see what first, and approve it with a tap.

What you do with it in practice is covered in Manage your hosting from the beach. This piece is about the question that came next: how do you make something like this work on shared hosting?

Why this is hard on shared hosting

On your own server, an always-on session is a matter of setting up one service. On web hosting, hundreds of customers share a server. Suddenly every question matters. Whose session is this? What may it see? How much memory may it use? What happens when it hangs, or when the customer cancels? And who switches it off when things go wrong?

We solved that in Invoker Link, our own extension for DirectAdmin. These are the choices we made.

One session per website, and you switch it on. Nothing runs until you flip the switch. You choose which website gets a session. If you have ten sites and want to manage two of them from your phone, two sessions run.

Inside your own account. The session runs as your hosting user, in that website's folder, in the same fenced-off environment as the rest of your account. Other customers on the server don't exist for the session, and your session doesn't exist for them.

Within the limits of your plan. The memory and CPU the session uses count towards your plan's budget. A runaway session can't drag the server down with it, or your neighbour's site.

It heals itself. Invoker Link keeps an eye on the session. If it drops, because of a hiccup or our maintenance, it starts again. You notice nothing, except that it is always there.

Asks before every change. The session is locked to the mode where every change first needs your approval. It is not a setting that can accidentally be off.

Your own subscription. The session uses the Claude subscription you linked in Invoker Link yourself. We don't read your conversations and we don't bill you for them.

No open ports. The session calls out by itself, just like the Claude app. No port is opened, and no SSH or VPN is involved.

A kill switch in two places. You switch it off in Invoker Link, and it stops. And we decide per account whether the feature is available, so we can step in when needed.

Why it comes with Hosting Complete

A session that is always on uses memory permanently: about 350 MB per website, even when you aren't using it. In a plan with 2 GB of memory, that comes at the expense of your website when things get busy. Hosting Complete has 8 GB of memory and 4 cores, and room for 20 websites. A handful of sessions fit in there without your visitors noticing.

There is also a practical reason. Complete is the plan for agencies and for anyone who manages several sites. That is exactly when you want to be able to step in on the go, because there is always a client with something going on.

Hosting Essential and Advanced have the same assistant, with Claude Code or Codex, in DirectAdmin and in the terminal. Only the always-on session for your phone is part of Complete. You can move up to Complete at any time, your sites stay where they are.

Essential Advanced Complete
Assistant in DirectAdmin yes yes yes
Approve every change yes yes yes
Claude Remote Control no no yes

If you have a Claude Server, Remote Control is included as well. How that works at server level is covered in Your server in your pocket.

How to switch it on

  1. Link your Claude subscription in Invoker Link, in DirectAdmin. Here's how.
  2. Go to the Claude tab, pick your website under Remote Control and flip the switch.
  3. Open the Claude app. Your website is in the list.

The full guide is in the knowledge base, and all plans are here. Already hosting with us and want to move to Complete? Send us a message and we'll switch it over.
